Giving Tuesday
Hubbard Lake Community Association/Friends of the Hubbard Lake Center participated in Giving Tuesday on December 2nd. THANK YOU for all of your contributions to help us to finish the Community Center/Library! Click here to make a Giving Tuesday donation to the Friends of the Hubbard Lake Center at the fund page on the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan website.
What is Giving Tuesday? It’s the annual event dedicated to boosting radical generosity, held on the Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The idea behind Giving Tuesday was to set aside a single day to counter consumerism by giving back.
Launched in 2012 at the 92nd Street Y, Giving Tuesday became an independent organization in 2019 and has since expanded globally. Today it includes five international hubs, Giving Tuesday Spark, a youth leadership development initiative, and the Giving Tuesday Data Commons, where a team of researchers track and report on trends in generosity.
Today, Giving Tuesday’s global network of over 110 country leaders and thousands of community leaders collaborates year-round to inspire generosity, with the shared goal of building a world where generosity is part of everyday life.
Project Update & Urgent Fundraising Appeal
Friends of the Hubbard Lake Center applied for a $300,000 federal grant in 2024 through our local U.S. Representative Jack Bergman. In late April, 2025, we were notified that our grant along with others from Congressman Bergman’s office, was unfortunately denied, due to Washington cutbacks. We were counting on the funding to complete our new community center/library. Without it, we are turning to our friends, neighbors, and supporters to help us raise the funds we need to open our doors. If you have already made a donation to our building fund, thank you and please consider giving again. Many generous individuals and families have made multiple contributions over the years. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to get involved that moment is now. The building is nearly complete. It’ s a beautiful space that promises to revitalize our community. It will house a state-of-the-art library for children & adults, host educational and cultural programs, and offer workshops and events for all ages. Plans include financial literacy and technology classes, tutoring, fitness sessions, craft workshops, art exhibits, veterans event, STEM club for local kids. Please consider making a donation today to help us cross the finish line. With your support, we can open the doors to a place that will serve our community for generations to come.
Please make your tax deductible payment to Community Foundation Northeast Michigan and mailed To HLCA/FoHLC, PO Box 55, Hubbard Lake, MI 49747
This project is for the future of the community. With your support, we can overcome this challenge and build something lasting together.
